my ordeal with bell's palsy

Day 1 - i felt pain on my right head, my scalp to be specific
Day 2 - pain at the back of right ear, went to see the doc and had otic solution, 2-3 drops every 6 hours which i followed religiously
Day 3 - pain on my right head, back of right ear, right jaw, right neck base and my tongue lost its sense of taste - all this happened while i did 2 loads of laundry
          - was rushed to the ER where procedures were done immediately. CT Scan, Xrays, blood chem - needle prick anywhere but the right side of my face had been motionless and feeling less. I was admitted at the hospital due to the reason that i will be at risk with the stroke anytime. Btw, Bell's Palsy is not a stroke. It is a facial paralysis where nerves cannot function well to supply blood to the MidCranial Artery of the brain.
Day 4 - still lying in the hospital, IV pushed medications, monitor, monitor as BP shooting up
Day 5- still at the hospital and the birthday of my daughter.....sorry girl I missed your birthday. Hope to make up sometime when mommy will be okay. Love u!!!
Day 6 - hospital latta
Day 7  - doctors won't let me go out yet. Thay want a massive work out on me - a neurosurgeon, cardiologist, internist and an EENT doctor, all four collaborated and concluded it's BELL'S PALSY!!! And so, i have to undergo therapy this time. Good thing the therapist is willing to come to the hospital.
Day 8 - PT session at the hospital goes on, so on with IV and IV push medicines, which I don't bother to know for there are too many
Day 9 - same procedures but finally released from the hospital at last. but have to go back and forth for my therapy sessions. BTW, i cannot drive yet. Right eye is still conditional though i can blink at with a force and will power.

It's my 3rd day at home......and unwilling to go out. I miss the public market, my gym buddies, the groceries, etc. Still i'm hopeful, someday everything will be back to normal......Thank u all for the love u shared in these times of my darkness and tomorrow will be a brand new day!!!

corby 2

Got my Samsung Corby 2 six months ago. Opted for samsung mobile due to the large font however i am not satisfied with the performance of Corby 2  specially w hen it comes to its applications such as using the the camera, videos , sounds, themes, games, etc. The internal memory is not enough and it is impossible to delete unused applications programed. It war ns that there is not enough memory even there is no more saved, halos wala nang laman, not enough memory pa rin and sometimes i just want to throw my phone away. If i could only have the money now i will buy a replacement for my phone and definitely not Samsung Corby 2.

thank u . . . .

My 15 years old son was hospitalized for a week due to Dengue (stage 2 - his 2nd attack, btw). His platelet count dropped to 69 and nosebleeding. He was then placed at the ICU for blood transfusion - he needed five bags of blood.

The blood bank in our local hospital readily gave the blood required and the transfusion went smoothly. My son's platelet count improved overnight! The doctor ordered for a discharge however, as policy, u cannot leave the hospital unless u can change the blood consumed.

I sent SMS to friends, to my surprise, friends and relatives volunteered as donors. My son is well now. We are back home.  I feel so blessed....Love, blessings does not come from material things alone. God is soo good! I feel sooo loved. Thank you!!!

on the go, mcdo

It was Palm Sunday yesterday. I went to church with my kids with their palaspas bought from the market by their grandma. We took the 2nd mass @8.30 am and the mass ended a little past 10. That time the kids were hungry and even me was also hungry. We proceeded to the nearest jollibee but the throng of people on queue was sooo long (abot hanggang labas). We ran to mcdo which is just in front. I ordered cheeseburgers and the attendant said not available. The kids wanted sundae and again, unavailable! Horrible, where in mcdo that burger is not available? We had no choice but to get their fried chicken, which is the only item available in their store since all of us were hungry na.

As i was to pay the bill na, oh no the cashier did not even know to compute my orders, she seemed she just got out of bed at 10.45 in the morning. I noticed her inefficiency towards costumers. I love mcdo eversince but this i find the most inefficient, unfriendly mcdo store.

a thank you letter....

Delighted to receive a thank you letter from Nenuca Valera Evangelista, wife of the late Paoay former mayor Tony Evangelista.....

Dear Friends and Relatives, (mine and hubby's name written in  her own handwriting)

Today, September 9, 2011, is the ninth day after Tony's passing. As we pray for him, we remember all who in one way or another made his leaving us more bearable.

It was a roller coaster ride for us when Tony got sick two months before he died. But as we look back, we realize that those days were a blessing and a source of grace from God. So many people were praying for him - our Paredes - Valera relatives,  the priests and our friends at Mary the Queen Parish, St. Augustine Parish of South San Francisco, Our Lady of Lourdes and St. Therese of Lisieux churches in France, St. Jude Shrine in New Jersey, the Benedictine nuns in Vigan, the Pink Sisters of Quezon City, our in-laws and many more friends and relatives so numerous to mention one by one. Most importantly, Tony had enough time to pray for himself, to receive the Holy Eucharist and to receive the Last Rites three times.

Tony was not perfect but he lived a full life. He very much valued friendship and to him. We believe these traits service was paramount. When he helped people, there were no conditions. It was always genuine service without expecting anything in return. He was generous to a fault. He stood up for his beliefs and principles. He accepted the outcome of his decisions with humble resignation. We believe these traits are the reasons why he was loved by many. When he retired from public office, the had the time to enjoy the company of his children and grandchildren whom he left behind in Manila when he went to serve the people of Paoay as Mayor for twelve years. We thank God for blessing us with the opportunity to spend the last years of Tony's life loving him, taking care of him, and praying with him.

The expression of sympathy we received upon his demise overwhelmed us; from the single word "condolence" sent through text to the sympathetic letter; the phone calls, the firm hand-shake to the tightest hug, the volunteered help to make arrangements for a solemn and dignified funeral service; the abundant food brought by friends, some of which were Tony's favorites, the generous financial help, the millions of beautiful flowers which brightened our tear-soaked eyes, the soulful music that soothed our grief, the thousands of masses offered for the repose of his soul, the hundreds of people who stayed with us during the three-day wake, and those who came to say goodbye to him as we brought him to his final resting place. All these filled to overflowing the vacuum created in our hearts when Tony left us. It is from there that we draw strength as we try to move on without him.

Words cannot express how grateful our family is for all the kindness and compassion conveyed to us during this difficult time. We really appreciate every act of kindness you have shown us in so many beautiful ways. Your thoughtfulness has been a comfort to us and will never be forgotten.

Thank you very much and God bless you all.

Sincerely,

Nenuca & Children
