early morning fuss on ballpens

Every June before classes start, i make it a point to see what the kids need in school. It is an annual trip to the bookstore for their school supplies, that would last them the half school term.
This morning they were asking me to buy more ballpens. Upon investigation, the ballpens they bought last June don't write. Maybe the ink stuck or whatever.

BIC Ballpen.....i  wonder where my son bought these. BIC, reminds me of my co-ed days. Aylabet!!!

when it rains....

I was walking down the street to where the car was parked when suddenly it rained so hard and my umbrella was in the car. I went inside to nearest store to while away the rain hoping to stop.
It was 3 pm and i found sales persons dancing with their daily 3pm exwercise.

I seldom shop in this store. But I find it more convenient for there is less crowd.

goodbye 5 sis....

The first and only department store in the north, 5 Sisters Superstore. Built in the late 70s 5 SISTERS boosts the one-stop shopping, with a department store, cinemas, grocery store and a resto.

Today, we say goodbye to 5SISTERS as it closes it's doors on July 31 to give way to SM. And Aloha was there for its last hurrah!!!!

sakaling makalusot......

I had this case of two kids drowned by the dike. As a protocol had to report the matter to the police and the rural health officer to be called. The police force came and so with the doctor. Since the morgue is a mere 10 miles from the location, the doctor had to go there for further autopsy to be escorted by the police. We were ready to go, the funeral service car, my car, the doctor's car and the police car. Suddenly one of the police officers approached and told me that their deputy chief needs to talk to me. I obliged and went to the deputy chief. He told me that they need to come to the morgue but they don't have enough gas and if possible will give them kahit 200pesos lang for their gas. I only had my cellphone and yosi. I did not have any money.

Q is, shall i give in to their demand? Am i supposed to give? Don't they have gas allowance for their operation? Can anyone from the PNP enlighten me on this matter?

wines.....

I was at a birthday party last week and it turned out for free wine tasting. There are different kinds of wine to choose from,  mostly imported and vintage ones but I find the not so famous BUGNAY WINE from Adams, Ilocos Norte stand out for my tastebud.  The TAPUY RICE WINE from Ifugao comes second.

Yes folks pang local lang taste ko.

 Winner!!!

waiting....with patient and patience

It takes a lot of patience in going to the doctor. First you have to cue to get your hospital number/record. You're late if you get there at 9.

The clerk calls the number in batch of tens

While waiting for your turn, you can seat if there is any vacant.
And there is only one clerk attending to thousand.
Then he will give you another number, proceed inside the building for Surgery, Ortho, OB, Pedia, etc.

Same procedure as above.

coco oil on good friday

As a child, my grandma would make oil out of coco milk during Good Friday. To these days, my mom does it the same. I don't know is this is religion related or just a tradition. But my mom believes that oil cooked/made on a Good Friday got healing powers/effect. As soon as the oil is done, she would set aside for cooling then transfer it to a clean jar, to replace the oil made the year before.
Last night, she called all the kids and them them with the coco oil. The kids obligued, no complaints were heard. Then my 9 year old daughter suddenly asked:
Child: Grandma, u applied oil on my arms and legs, when I go to sleep won't i be feasted by the ants?
Grandma: No baby, not at all, hahaha.....
Me: Ha hahahahahahaha (ellek mode)

killer market

I had an accident at the laoag city market yesterday. Now im in bed with fractured ankle, sprained knee and shoulder. This happened at the southwest stairs of the market where there is an uneven pavement by the landing.

Laoaguenos are helpful, alright. According to some market workers, I am the 5th vicitm of said pavement. One case is of a woman whose head was severely injured and was rushed to the hospital. And hospital bills are no joke, i tell u.  My concern, why do the city government and the market administrator   just leave the pavement like that? Why don't they make any repair or whatever for the safety of the public?

I am calling the attention of the city market administrator.

St. Lorenzo Ruiz

THe only Filipino saint, St. Lorenzo Ruiz, born in Binondo, Manila, a layman and father of three, accused of murder, exiled to Japan where he was tortured to denounce Christianity, that he never did, "That I shall never do, because I am a Christian and I shall die for God, and for Him I will give many thousands of lives if I had them. And so do with me as you will please." With his strong Christian faith led him to martyrdom. He was beatified by Pope John Paul II in 1981 and canonized into sainthood in 1987 by Pope John Paul II in Vatican City. His feastday is today, September 28.

St. Lorenzo Ruiz is the patron saint of the high school sophomores in my son's school. I do not regularly attend Sunday mass, so I make it a point to attend special Feast days. There was a recollection for students and parents, afterwhich, mass followed.

summer

You are not a Filipino if you have not been to Baguio. As a child, the mere mention of Baguio always excites me. Back to the days when Baguio was still clean and under populated. Last summer, my travelmate and I went to Sagada instead of Baguio. Why Sagada? Well, it's not that  i don't know how to swim but honestly i'm not a beach bum.....

From Manila, we took the bus (Florida) to Banaue. The 8-hour trip went on smoothly and we reached Banaue exactly for breakfast.

As seen on our one thousend peso bill:
We took a van that charge 300php per head for a 3-hour ride to Sagada:

Sagada is famous for its hanging coffins. Climbed up the echo valley to where these coffins hanged on a big solid rock

Basketball court at the foot of Echo Valley:

Betel nut or simply called mamma by the locals. Seems everybody in Banaue chew this even the kids and the teens:
Stop over in Atok on the way to Baguio

He makes good kimchi:
